Oct 28, 2023

NEW CONCORD − John Glenn lacrosse closed out the regular season with a 18-6 victory over Licking Valley on Wednesday during Senior Night.

"Senior night is a special night. It was good feeling seeing all eight seniors in the starting lineup tonight," JG head coach Bob Williams offered. "It took a little while to get moving and that last minute of the second half was incredible. Levi Kinnan was on fire on the faceoff dot and would win the faceoff and generate a fast break goal for all 3 of those goals in the final 25 second half."

Max Morrow and Clay Hanna each would register goals early in the first quarter to give JG a quick 2-0 lead. Licking Valley would respond with 2 goals to tie it up 2-2.

The Muskies would go on a run, scoring four unanswered goals in the following three minutes, two by Logan Williams, and one each by Evan Haney and Ethan Haney to lead 6-3 after the first period.

John Glenn used an 8-1 scoring edge in the second quarter to hold a comfortable 14-4 lead at the halftime break.

Senior Ethan Haney would add two more goals in the third to give the Muskies the 16-5 advantage going into the final frame. Evan Haney and Cannon Fox would close out the scoring in the fourth for a 18-6 final.

"Our offense was really clicking tonight as it was great to see 14 of our 18 goals being assisted," Williams added. "Offensive coordinator Matt Hanna has developed a solid offense and they play so unselfishly. Our defense was able to generate 19 takeaways, led by junior, Nic Xanders."

Ethan Haney finished with seven goals, sophomore Evan Haney added three goals, five assists to lead the John Glenn attack. Cannon Fox added two goals and two assists, while Logan Williams had two goals, and one assist. Max Morrow also had two goals.

John Glenn finishes the regular season with a 13-5 record, and will now take on Bexley on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the North Turf Field in the first round of the OHSAA playoffs.
